NM History Period 4

Welcome to Social Studies!

This course provides a survey into New Mexico’s political, social, economic, and cultural development from the earliest indigenous peoples to colonization by Spain, New Mexico as a territory of Mexico and the United States, and early statehood through present day. Students will make connections through their involvement in “hands-on” projects and activities such as role-playing, skits, making posters, presentations, Socratic discussions, and debates. Students will also conduct research and write formal papers concerning major historical events and people.

Unit Syllabi:Students will receive an outline of activities, homework, and tests for each of the five units we will cover this year. These will be flexible syllabi which are meant to help organize students, but they are subject to change as needed.
